What is Royal Family KIDS Camp?Royal Family KIDS Camp is a premier program of For The Children. It is part of a network comprising over 200 foster kids camps across the nation and globally. Established three years ago, our Maui chapter is dedicated to providing transformative experiences for children in foster care. Please hit the About Us page for more details.
-
Who is this camp for?For foster children and adopted, ages 6-11, who are currently under care with Child Welfare Service on Maui.
-
How much does it cost?Because of the generous donations from the local businesses, churches, and individuals, this camp is offered Free of Charge to the qualified foster keiki.
-
When and where is the camp?It is held annually on the 3rd week of July. This year it will be held on July 15-19, 2024. The campground is located at an undisclosed location for the security and safety of the foster keiki.
-
What happens at the camp? The children come together to enjoy 5 days of fun-filled activities; non-competitive games, water slides, a bounce castle, a talent show, arts & crafts, relationship-building activities, Bible stories, and a special "It's Everyone's Birthday" celebration. Every aspect of the camp is meticulously designed to cultivate a therapeutic atmosphere, supported by compassionate adults. Our program aims to provide a blend of enjoyment, normalcy, and hope for every child.

I'm concerned of the health and safety of my foster kids.We totally understand. The camp has been sanctioned by Child Welfare Services. Every volunteer undergoes a thorough background check and participates in mandatory 10-hour trauma-informed training. We prioritize a counselor-to-camper ratio of 1:2, ensuring individualized attention and care for each child. Moreover, our campground is an exclusive venue with restricted access limited to volunteers, caseworkers, and children's caregivers. This ensures a secure environment where everyone can focus on creating meaningful experiences for the children in our care.
